Dusty McKinney is a five-time competitor on American Ninja Warrior.  In season 6, his first season, he became the shortest man to make it up the 12-foot warped wall.  In season 7, he outlasted over 120 competitors to become the only person to complete the grueling finals course in San Pedro, California.  He is a two-time qualifier for the National Finals in Las Vegas California where he competed at Mt. Midoriyama.  After making it through the gauntlet of obstacles on Stage 1 in Season 7, he became the shortest competitor to ever make it to Stage 2.  Dusty also competed alongside Geoff Britten in the first year of the Ninja Versus Ninja competition and was selected for the All-Star episode in Season 7.
Dusty has trained with and competed around the country alongside some of the most experienced and successful
American Ninja Warriors.  Through this, he gained valuable tools and training tips.  He has also coached other athletes on their application videos to help them get selected to compete on American Ninja Warrior.  Dusty has been a course tester on three seasons of American Ninja Warrior, where he gained valuable insight into obstacle techniques, and was the Top Tester in 2019 in Atlanta.
Dusty has been an active-duty Sailor in the Navy for 18 years, and even represented the Navy while competing on the All-Navy Wrestling Team in 2009 where he earned All-American honors.  Before Ninja Warrior, Dusty was always a fierce athletic competitor.  A four-time state champion and national champion wrestler, a breakdancer, a slick-liner, and inline skater.
Dusty’s Christian faith is the backbone of his strength.  He believes that hard work, dedication, and perseverance combined with a focus on character development are the keys to success!
